URGENT ACTION NEEDED!!!!

Via Trust Women:

"The House Federal and House Affairs Committee is planning to hear House Bill 2324 tomorrow morning, Tuesday, March 26th at 8 AM. HB 2324 would ban abortions as soon as a fetal heartbeat can be detected, as early as six weeks. This arbitrary time restriction is well before most women even know they are pregnant and is clearly at odds with Supreme Court decisions that guarantee the right to abortion before viability at 24 weeks.

We need as many of supporters of reproductive rights in Kansas as possible to contact committee members to let them know that we will not stand for this unconstitutional legislation. Below is a list of all committee members, as well as their emails and phone numbers. We urge you to call and write to as many as possible before 8 AM tomorrow morning.

advocates for various causes address select legislators

This morning, I attended a Legislative Forum at WSU's Hughes Metroplex. Surprising turnout and one that was overwhelmingly progressive, which is always a pleasant surprising. I was sporting my ProChoice Kansas T-Shirt and got a few stares - but no one was rude or called me a baby killer. So that was nice LOL.  Issues ranged from medical marijuana, to the changes with services for the developmentally delayed/handicapped population, fracking, 2 antis spoke (surprised it was so few!) and about 4 or 5 of us advocated for the rights of women.

Abortion in the United States - from the Guttmacher Institute

When fighting for reproductive choice it is easy to get bogged down in the defeats, the erosion of rights, the violence and dehumanization perpetrated by the Anti-Abortion movement.  However, we must stay focused on the fact that women's lives, families and basic human rights are at stake in this fight.  Women have the right to determine the direction of their lives, the size of their families, and they know best the economic realities of their individual situations.  That is the reality surrounding the continued fight for Abortion Rights.  - Nicki

Frequently Asked Questions

Who are you?

I'm a concerned Kansan - devoted to protecting reproductive choice in Kansas.

Why do you use a hanger in your logo?

I've actually had some negative feedback on the hanger visual - but I think it's important to cut through the niceties. When abortion is illegal, unaccessible or unaffordable - women die.  Here's a blog post explaining my thought process when I created the logo.
